Very nice staff. The quality of the coffee and cake is okay, but unfortunately not really convincing either.
The kowalski is not bad, but not really good either. Very honestly furnished and the dishes are ordinary and not up-to-date across the board. The staff is nice. Therefore three stars.
Imaginative cuisine, suitable for every occasion and also for business
Breakfast is not that special. I didn't get a roll with it ... The atmosphere is nice.
Very nice and reasonable prices Conclusion: recommendable
We were there for breakfast and it was delicious. There is one point deduction for the not too large selection.
I like the place. We sat in the yard. It's usually quiet there if the cook wasn't in the kitchen. He loudly told his résumé, everyone had to overhear. Then he noticed that the spinach was missing for my dish, I noticed on my plate. The soda is great
Charm of a station concourse with overpriced food and drinks. Tourinepp.
Even a star is too much ... It was the worst restaurant I've ever been to. The staff was arrogant and rude especially the waitress with dark hair - HORROR! I was there once and never again, although the food was okay. What the staff can make out ...
Varied delicious cuisine, even gluten-free dishes and cakes. Very nice staff. We would love to come back. ??
Good price-performance ratio. Fast service. Good opening times.
Today was the first and also the last time at Café Kowalski. The pleasant atmosphere is flanked by the immensely unfriendly behavior of the staff. Examples: I come in, smile and greet. Response: "hmhmmm" .... I am ignored twice at the table and may apologize to the waitress for wanting coffee. Since the visit is not worth a tip at the end, I will not give one. The result: you whisper at the bar and give me goodbye glances rather than a "goodbye!" to pretend. ... Honestly: Nope! ... It's one thing when someone is in a bad mood. But all!? ...
I would not offer my guests what they serve at least as food, so there is no reason for me to use the "arts" of this kitchen again. Approximately 2-3 mm thick, oil-soaked potato slices, according to the card "Vigorous farmers breakfast" for 10.50 euros. Additive: Yesterday I asked to share my experience with an employee. And suddenly she says "maybe the ..... with the ..... hair?" described exactly. When it was added, "That was exactly how she treated us back then", it was clear to me that I was certainly not wrong with my subjective assessment and it was not due to the "form of the day". But I have to say that the second condition was the opposite. ? All in all, at least for me, no reason to visit again. ?
Nice ambience. Although it is now a little too small after the renovation and the tables opposite the bar are not exactly cozy. The places in the back are better. In summer you can also sit in the back yard. Friendly staff and good, solid food selection. The lunch menu has a good price-performance ratio.
After conversion and reduction, the special flair is passé. Remained are the good kitchen and the nice staff. I'll be back in summer because I do not like sitting in there anymore! All the best, nevertheless!
Very special place to take a well made cake in a relaxing environment
Why did you cut everything that was good? It is awfully tight and the nice atmosphere is gone. I have such nice memories of the Kowalski, but they are gone now ...
Wide choice of breakfast and main meals. Highly recommended: homemade tiramisu cake teuer (expensive but ?) Relaxing ambience and sitting outside is also fun. Service very friendly and patient. At the next Leipzig visit again our first stop. We recommend.
When entering, I asked if we can sit in the courtyard, since nice weather and already set. The waitress rolled his eyes, smiled at us, then twisted the corners of his mouth down and did not answer. We turned on the threshold and went to another restaurant. I felt really very offended and treated inappropriately. The Kowalski has done it for me.
Nice cosy place for a casual meal. Parking is a bit hard in the area. There is u-ground parking 5 min walk from it. Food was good and staff courteous (and spoke perfect English). Can only recommend.
Very pleasant, cozy atmosphere. Very tasty cake and friendly service. Well suited for larger groups with reservation.
The staff at this place is wrong selected. They don’t fit into service so our stay was not good. Just explore the bars/ restaurant next to Kowalski and you will find a great atmosphere and friendly service.
Extremely rude waitress. Decided to leave and have dinner at Mio restaurant around the corner where we were looked after very well.
Food was delicious, service was nice and nice atmosphere.
We went to cafe Kowalski with some friends and our little girls (a 3 years and a 10 months old) tonight. We first met with a friend and his daughter for a Spritz and afterwards, when he left, two more friends joined us for dinner. That is when the waitress started to be pretty unfriendly with us. First she didn't want our friend to enter with her stroller... where her baby was asleep! At that point we had to decide if leaving or convincing the waitress that the stroller would fit close to our table. By the way, we were in one of the corner of the restaurant, the stroller would not have created any trouble to the other customers. We finally convinced her we were right and we all could finally sit. The waitress was never very accommodating (for instance, she used to pass close to our chairs and move them away with her legs, like, I don't know, she wanted to show superiority and arrogance) but the worst happened when we had to leave. Separately, all of our friends went to the cashier to pay their parts. One went to the toilette to change her baby and she was told by the same, unfriendly waitress "but then you come back to pay, right?"...like if we are accustomed to running off restaurants after dinner. When it was our turn to pay, we were told to pay also the Aperol Spritz and the apple juice of our "friend with daughter" (see the intro of the review), which I was sure he paid. The waitress said (quote): "your friend with glasses... "puff" disappeared!" I then said "I am sure he paid", and the waitress, with her peculiar, unfriendly manner, replied "and I am sure he didn't!". I sent a text message to my friend and he, of course, said that he had paid indeed. So after another couple of "my friend payed" "No he did not!" we moved to the cashier to talk to the manager. Then, and only then, the "I-don't-give-a-s**t-that-you-are-a-client"-waitress asked to the other waitress if our friend did pay to her before leaving and, as it was very predictable, she said "of course, he paid to me". So, waitress, before being so sure that we did not pay ask your colleagues instead of keeping to contradict me. Talking about food: it is not so bad but nothing really special. Portions are quite satisfying and the environment of the place is ok (probably if you are german and have no babies... for instance, there is not a single dish for kids in the menu), but the service is reaaaally slow. We had to wait 1 hour for a sandwich (ham and cheese), a dish of spaghetti, a lentil soup and an omelette. And the place was just half full. We had to insist to have at least the food for the children as soon as possible (it was nearly 9pm already). In Italy, where we know what it means to do catering and food services, we are used to very different treatments! They did not deserve any tip nor more than 1 star in this review.
